Medical Marijuana Information Compilation – Educate Yourselves and Live

May 5, 2015 by Healthyhank

This month marks my sixth year of research on the topic of this plant! In my thirty five years of researching nutrition and ‘alternative’ healing methods, there has NEVER been a more exciting, encouraging, and hopeful topic than Cannabis! Obtaining knowledge about this plant can literally save the lives of yourself and your family! My interest is primarily in the oils from the plant.

This post contains some complete and profound connections to answers and provides information easily accessed. Places like YouTube provide virtually everything one would need to become independent of the medical establishment for health solutions. The challenge is absorbing such an array of presentations. My objective in this blog post is to streamline your efforts to achieve your success.

In order to quickly dispel any doubt that there are medical health benefits in cannabis, know that there was a US Government patent US6630507 issued to the National Institute of Health [NIH] in 2003! The health benefits claimed in the patent remove ANY question as to whether cannabis has value regarding health…

Just to add additional proof of health benefits is a group of 20 case studies of cancer cases

In 2013, 2014 and 2015 CNN created three documentaries that are quite good. Note the progression of statements and claims as the years progressed. Weed 2013, Weed 2014, Weed 2015. Enjoy…

One of the things that most do not understand is that our Creator made us with an ‘Endocannaboidal’ System. Meaning that we create cannabinoids everyday to live and function normally. New born babies know how to ‘suck’ because their mother created cannabinoids creating the ‘munchies’… The Endocannabinoid System: An Overview

The National Cancer Institute [NCI] is an important government organization compiling just about everything and claim that they are the premier source for cancer information. Unfortunately much of the ‘research’ done on cannabis by the government uses synthetic marijuana… Cannabis and Cannabinoids (PDQ®) – National Cancer Institute

The entire plant has over 420 compounds and at least 66 cannabinoids. Most know about THC [that is where the ‘high’ comes from]. Our bodies have two main receptor sites named CB1 and CB2. CB1 goes directly to the brain [the ‘high’] and CB2 to the immune system. All cells have these sites. The entire plant yields medical results. When the leaves are eaten before the plant is either dried or heated [eating the leaves] will give all of the medical benefits WITHOUT any psychotic affect! Eaten rather than smoked. The Entourage Effect: Whole-Plant Cannabis Medicine.

Just in the past two years the pediatric world has proven that this plant may be the most important solution regarding epileptic seizures. Watching children who have suffered and knowing that many have died is almost too much to take! The demonstration of Charlotte [a twin that had dozens of seizures daily since birth and almost died numerous times] and her turn around since her first dose of cannabis oil is beyond amazing! Medical Marijuana and Pediatric Epilepsy Josh Stanley. Medical Cannabis owns this epileptic seizure!

Politicians MUST educate themselves about the medical side of cannabis and NOT continue in their ignorance allowing so many to suffer and/or die!! Anyone that refuses to learn about cannabis merely proves their arrogance and ignorance!

A closing observation; note the number of deaths from cannabis – NONE! Causes of deaths.

Please share this information as much as possible – there is so much suffering and so many people dying unnecessarily. Be well.

Cannabis Cures Cancer – Educate Yourself and Live…

Cannabis Cures Cancer

This is a very excellent piece by Dr. Mark Sircus… Please excuse the length, it is rather long and can seem to be technical, however, just understand the repeating theme; cancer cells are being killed, cancers are being kept from growing new cells, cancer cells are kept from spreading!

That’s it – all of this is being accomplished by a simple plant that has virtually no negative responses from our bodies. Please don’t allow your ‘opinions’ to stop you from learning more of this important topic. It can save you and your families lives!

In my 40 years of research I have never studied any topic more profound and exciting than cannabis! Dr. Sircus’ summary [at the end] is simple and powerful…

The following is a published by Dr. Sircus;

There should be no more confusion about whether or not marijuana is effective for cancer patients. Medical marijuana is chemotherapy, natural style, for all cancer patients. The two forms of hemp oil, one with THC and CBD and the other CBD alone (which is pretty much legal everywhere) provide the body with chemo therapeutics without the danger and staggering side effects.

There are many chapters in this book about cancer patients using marijuana but in this one we present a quick overview of the science that backs up the assertion that every cancer patient and every oncologist should put medical marijuana on their treatment maps.

What you will see in this chapter is reference to many scientific studies that are all viewable on governmental sites. The United States government is pathetic in its dishonesty about medical marijuana both believing in it and holding patents for its medical use and claiming at the same time that it has no medical use. The federal government and still many states would rather throw innocent people in jail for using medical marijuana than be honest about how much it can help people recover from cancer and other diseases.

Below are summaries to just some of the scientific research out there that sustains the belief that medical marijuana will help people cure their cancer.

One of the most exciting areas of current research in the cannabinoid field is the study of the potential application of these compounds as antitumor drugs. CBD represents the first nontoxic exogenous agent that can significantly decrease Id-1 expression in metastatic breast cancer cells leading to the down-regulation of tumor aggressiveness.[1],[2] The CBD concentrations effective at inhibiting Id-1 expression correlated with those used to inhibit the proliferative and invasive phenotype of breast cancer cells. Of the five cannabinoids tested: cannabidiol, cannabigerol,
cannnabichromene; cannabidiol-acid and THC-acid, it was found that cannabidiol is the most potent inhibitor of cancer cell growth. Taken together, these data might set the bases for a cannabinoid therapy for the management of breast cancer.[3]

Results show that Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol reduces tumor growth, tumor number, and the amount/severity of lung metastases inMMTV-neu mice.[4] Cannabinoids induce ICAM-1, thereby conferring TIMP-1 induction and subsequent decreased cancer cell invasiveness thus inhibits lung cancer invasion and metastasis.[5]

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Researchers have observed expression of CB1 (24%) and CB2 (55%) in NSCLC patients. They have also shown that the treatment of NSCLC cell lines (A549 and SW-1573) with CB1/CB2- and CB2-specific agonistsWin55,212-2 and JWH-015, respectively, significantly attenuated random as well as growth factor-directed in vitro chemotaxis and chemoinvasion in these cells.[6]

Researchers in lung cancers also reported that they observed significant reduction in focal adhesion complex, which plays an important role in cancer migration.Medical marijuana significantly inhibited in vivo tumor growth and lung metastasis (∼50%).[7]

In research on pancreatic cancer it was found that cannabinoids lead to apoptosis of pancreatic tumor cells via a CB2 receptor and de novo synthesized ceramidedependent up-regulation of p8 and the endoplasmic reticulum stress–related genes ATF-4 and TRB3. These findings may contribute to set the basis for a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of pancreatic cancer as reported by the National Cancer Institute.

Prostate cancer cells possess increased expression of both cannabinoid 1 and 2 receptors, and stimulation of these results in decrease in cell viability, increased apoptosis, and decreased androgen receptor expression and prostate-specific antigen excretion.[8]

In colorectal carcinoma cell lines, cannabidiol protected DNA from oxidative damage, increased endocannabinoid levels and reduced cell proliferation in a CB(1)-, TRPV1- and PPARγ-antagonists sensitive manner. It is concluded that cannabidiol exerts chemopreventive effect in vivo and reduces cell proliferation through multiple mechanisms.[9]

Ovarian cancer represents one of the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for women and is the most common gynecologic malignancy. Results with medical marijuana support a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is also conceivable that with available cannabinoids as lead compounds, non-habit forming agents that have higher biological effects could be developed.[10]

Examination of a number of human leukaemia and lymphoma cell lines demonstrate that CB2 cannabinoid receptors expressed on malignancies of the immune system may serve as potential targets for the induction of apoptosis. Also, because CB2 agonists lack psychotropic effects, they may serve as novel anticancer agents to selectively target and kill tumors of immune origin.[11] Plant-derived cannabinoids, including Delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), induce apoptosis in leukemic cells.[12]

Cannabinoid-treated tumors showed an increased number of apoptotic cells. This was accompanied by impairment of tumor vascularization, as determined by altered blood vessel morphology and decreased expression of proangiogenic factors (VEGF, placental growth factor, and angiopoietin. Abrogation of EGF-R function was also observed in cannabinoid-treated tumors.[13] These results support a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of skin tumors.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third cause of cancer-related death worldwide. When these tumors are in advanced stages, few therapeutic options are available. In this study, the effects of cannabinoids–a novel family of potential anticancer agents–on the growth of HCC was investigated. It was found that Δ(9)- tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ(9)-THC, the main active component of Cannabis sativa) and JWH-015 (a cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB(2)) cannabinoid receptor-selective agonist) reduced the viability of the human HCC cell lines Cannabinoids were able to inhibit tumor growth and ascites in an orthotopic model of HCC xenograft.[14] These findings may contribute to the design of new therapeutic strategies for the management of HCC.

Both cholangiocarcinoma cell lines and surgical specimens from cholangiocarcinoma patients expressed cannabinoid receptors. THC inhibited cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and induced cell apoptosis. THC also decreased actin polymerization and reduced tumor cell survival in anoikis assay. pMEK1/2 and pAkt demonstrated the lower extent than untreated cells. Consequently, THC is potentially used to retard cholangiocarcinoma cell growth and metastasis.[15]

Smoking marijuana might decrease the smoker’s risk for bladder cancer, a new study shows. Retrospectively analyzing a large database of patients, researchers at Kaiser Permanente in California found that patients who reported cannabis use were 45% less likely to be diagnosed with bladder cancer than patients who did not smoke at all.

THC is a potent inducer of apoptosis, even at 1 x IC(50) (inhibitory concentration 50%) concentrations and as early as 6 hours after exposure to the drug. These effects were seen in leukemic cell lines (CEM, HEL-92, and HL60) as well as in peripheral blood mononuclear cells.[16] Cannabinoids represent a novel class of drugs active in increasing the life span in mice carrying Lewis lung tumors and decreasing primary tumor size.[17]

Research has also found a cannabidiol-driven impaired invasion of human cervical cancer (HeLa, C33A) and human lung cancer cells (A549) that was reversed by antagonists to both CB(1) and CB(2) receptorrs as well as to transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1). The decrease of invasion by cannabidiol appeared concomitantly with up regulation of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP the findings provide a novel mechanism underlying the anti-invasive action of cannabidiol and imply its use as a therapeutic option for the treatment of highly invasive cancers.[18]

A new anticancer quinone (HU-331) was synthesized from cannabidiol. It shows significant high efficacy against human cancer cell lines in vitro and against in vivo tumor grafts in nude mice. Two non-psychotropic cannabinoids, cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabidiol-dimethylheptyl (CBD-DMH), induced apoptosis in a human acute myeloid leukemia (AML) HL-60 cell line.[19]

Other studies show a synthetic and potent cannabinoid receptor agonist, investigated in hepatoma HepG2 cells and a possible signal transduction pathway that is proposed, indicates a potential positive role in liver cancer.[20] Cannabinoids have been found to counteract intestinal inflammation and colon cancer.[21]

The control of the cellular proliferation has become a focus of major attention as opening new therapeutic possibilities for the use of cannabinoids as potential antitumor agents.[22] Cannabinoid treatment inhibits angiogenesis of gliomas in vivo.[23] Remarkably, cannabinoids kill glioma cells selectively and can protect nontransformed glial cells from death. These and other findings reviewed here might set the basis for a potential use of cannabinoids in the management of gliomas. Other confirming studies may provide the basis for a new therapeutic approach for the
treatment of malignant gliomas.[24]

In Summary:

Cannabinoids are found to exert their anti-cancer effects in a number of ways and in a variety of tissues;

Triggering cell death, through a mechanism called apoptosis.

Stopping cells from dividing.

Preventing new blood vessels from growing into tumours.

Reducing the chances of cancer cells spreading through the body, by stopping cells
from moving or invading neighbouring tissue.

Speeding up the cell’s internal ‘waste disposal machine’ – a process known as
autophagy – which can lead to cell death.

All these effects are thought to be caused by cannabinoids locking onto the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. Almost daily we are seeing new or confirming evidence that Cannibinoids can be used to great benefit in cancer treatment of many types.

Medical Marijuana Follow-up…

September 13, 2013 by Healthyhank

This plant is without a doubt the most amazing plant on earth!  I knew quite a bit about the nutrition and the industrial side of the hemp plant when I wrote in my blog in June and July of 2010. I was in the process on learning/confirming about the medical side…  January 2013 I wrote a post about the medical side of cannabis and my purpose here is to update that with more information that will allow you to expand your opinion/education of this plant named Cannabis.

The first link is from the cable program “Wealth Channel”.  This is an hour long documentary about the history and status of the medical use of the cannabis plant.  This is a much better piece than the program that Dr. Gupta CNN’s chief medical correspondent made after he apologized for a week about not doing enough research and “buying into” the Governments disinformation about Medical Marijuana…

The Wealth channel has numerous examples of the long term success using cannabis.  You will be shocked when you find that the US Government via the University of Mississippi has been supplying marijuana to some patients for the past thirty years!  Irvin Rosenfeld has a rare bone disease that grows tumors on his bones.  He receives hundreds of ‘joints’ a month from the government!

You will also be amazed to learn about Kathy Jordon who has ALS [Lou Gehrig’s disease] for the past 30 years and has outlived some of her doctors.  Only smoking two ‘joints’ a day her ALS is arrested to the same level that it was 25 years ago!

Another very important part of the more recent information about Medical Marijuana is the affect on seizures!  This video link shows interviews with two mothers about their children and their epilepsy disease.  Charlotte and Zaki both have suffered with seizures [up to 20 – 30+ per hour] for many years of their lives!  After their first dose of the “cannabis oil” the seizures stopped or diminished 97%!

BTW the oil from this particular plant has ‘0’ psychotic effect because the plant has less than 1/2% THC and 17% CBD’s.  Even if you tried, you could not get “high” with this plant! There are now more than 35 children [over 200 waiting] in Colorado using this plant and getting astounding results…

The group in Colorado growing this special low THC and high CBD plant is named the Realm of Caring Foundation.  View the stories of children AND an adult that have received serious results using the plant that has NO psychotic effect!

For the sake of you and your family please educate yourself about the possibilities of wellness using this plant!  If you are in a State that allows MM you have the power to protect your family from most medical challenges!  If not go to Dixiex.com for CBD’s in tincture form that can be mailed to you…  Be well.

A Simple WEED is the most powerful medicine in the world! YES!

January 26, 2013 by Healthyhank

World War II started about when I was born in 1941… the main supplier of hemp had been Japan, so the US Government asked farmers to create their “Victory Farms” to grow much needed industrial hemp.  The reason that this was necessary was because in 1937 the government passed “The 1937 Marijuana Tax Act” and basically outlawed farmers from growing hemp.  Keep in mind that industrial hemp does NOT have the psychotic THC to “get high”!  Even industrial hemp is classified as a type one drug!

I wrote about hemp on my blog in 2010 covering the industrial uses and also the food value of hemp.   In this post I want to discuss the medical value of medical marijuana/cannabis!  Please start by watching the brief video by Dr. David Allen who is a retired cardiac surgeon who learned about THC and CBD’s [the chemical components of cannabis].  After watching his comments you will be more prepared to comprehend the magnitude of what I will be discussing.

Having been a health coach for 30+ years now, I have learned that just nutritional supplementation will NOT keep us from getting the aggressive diseases that we’re confronted with every day.  I have also learned that God has made our bodies healing system complete, IF it has the tools from foods that we eat.  In my opinion the help/aid that supplements bring to the table can be defensive/preventative weapons; however, very few IF ANY will be OFFENSIVE WEAPONS!

Since the industrial giants have ruined our farm lands and foods we have a very difficult time getting “foods that heal”!  As you have seen from Dr. Allen’s video hemp/cannabis is a plant that heals!  There is no doubt about this fact.  The research available is without question as to the healing characteristics of THC [+THCA] and CBD [cannabinoids].  It should be noted that the plant juiced green and/or consumed before heated or aged has NO psychotic affect – YET it is very powerful medicine!! There is a company in Colorado that has the CBD medicine made from industrial hemp [this is a legal product] with potent medicine!

Since I live in California [as in 16 other States] we have the ability to access or grow small amounts of the plants and have learned to make the essential oils of cannabis called Delta 9 [also called RSO oils].  Please watch the movie “Run from the Cure” by Rick Simpson who has taught the world about the medicinal oils available to all of us.

During these past four years we have seen this medicine/oils help many people… topical skin challenges, sleep challenges, serious internal tumor issues, neurotransmitter/nerve issues, cognitive abilities, just to mention a few.  This is also probably the best anti-aging substance on the planet!

It’s important to note that most ‘conservative’ people have a mental block when this topic comes up… that’s ok; just remember that you cannot even become a critic or skeptic UNTIL you have researched/studied the topic!  Einstein said “to condemn before investigation is the height of ignorance”

Ignoring this simple plant could cost you and/or your loved ones their lives.  Chemo, radiation and surgery success is dismal.  Some 87% of oncologists said that they would never use their medicine!

Times are changing regarding hemp [this should be the largest cash crop in the country] and farming.  There are 27 States that have petitioned the government to allow farms to grow the industrial hemp.  Please read my post about the uses of industrial hemp on my blog.  One that I love is that Henry Ford built a car body that you could NOT dent even with a sledge hammer! 🙂

I guarantee you that if American History had been told/taught properly; about the Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812 and the role that industrial hemp played – it would have been a VERY interesting topic!  I would not have been as bored! 🙂

Hemp Seed, Protein & Oil – The Best On Earth!

July 14, 2010 by Healthyhank

No other single plant source provides complete protein in such an easily digestible form, nor has the oils essential to life in as perfect a ratio for human health and vitality.  Today, in the USA, Canada and European countries etc hemp seed and its oil is also being used for nutritional rather than just its medicinal or narcotic values.

This is one of the most potent foods available!  It provides a broad spectrum of health benefits from weight loss to building the immune system.

Amazingly it has been found that hemp seeds protein is about 65% globulin, edestin plus quantities of albumin (present in all seeds) so it is easily digestible, in addition the protein is available in a form quite similar to that found in blood plasma.  Hemp protein contains all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life.

Pioneers in the field of biochemistry and human nutrition now believe cardiovascular disease (CVD) and most cancers are really diseases of fatty degeneration caused by the continued over-consumption of saturated fats and refined vegetable oils.

The short list of hemp food currently on the market of USA and in European countries include: hemp oil, hemp cheese (just as good as real cheese and melts great!), hemp ice cream, hemp butters, hemp flour, hemp baked goods, hemp tofu, hemp burgers (tempeh), roasted hemp seeds and hemp beer.  Some of these are now available in health food stores…

Hemp seed is the premier plant-seed provider of globulin starting material — the highest in the plant kingdom. Eating hemp seeds will insure the immune system has the reservoir of immunoglobulin resources needed to make disease destroying antibodies.

Beyond basic nutrition, hemp oil may help to prevent many of today’s increasingly common degenerative diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, weakened immune functions, arthritis, behavioral problems, high cholesterol, multiple sclerosis, skin affections and dry skin and hair, pms, sterility and even hair loss.

Hemp seed oil is one of the lowest in saturated fats at eight per cent of total.  1-4 per cent g-linolenic acid (GLA) and 15.25 per cent a-linolenic acid oil volume. The oil pressed from hemp seed contains 53-60 per cent linoleic acid (LA) and (LNA). Essential fatty acids govern growth, vitality and state of mind. LA and LNA are involved in transferring oxygen from the air in the lungs to every cell in the body. They play a part in holding oxygen in the cell membrane where it acts as a barrier to invading viruses and bacteria, neither of which thrive in the presence of oxygen.

Hemp is not unique in having all the essential amino acids in its embryonic seed. Flax seeds also contain all the essential amino acids as do many other seeds in the plant kingdom. What is unique about hemp seed protein is that 65% of it is globulin edistin. That is the highest in the plant kingdom.  It also has the best EFA ratio…

The body’s ability to resist and recover from illness depends upon how rapidly it can produce massive amounts of antibodies to fend off the initial attack. If the globulin protein starting material is in short supply the army of antibodies may be too small to prevent the symptoms of sickness from setting in.

Hemp seed is the premier plant-seed provider of globulin starting material — the highest in the plant kingdom. Eating hemp seeds will insure the immune system has the reservoir of immunoglobulin resources needed to make disease destroying antibodies.

Please do your own study of hemp seed, hemp protein (easily assimilated by everyone – moms, babies, body builders, convalescents, and the elderly – EVERYONE!) and hemp oil… this is some of the most important work that I have done!

If you are in a State that has laws that allow medicinal cannabis, make use of that right.  If not, do your homework and then get involved and convince your State representatives to understand the importance of hemp (see last post) growing for general uses and the cannabis side to protect ourselves and our loved ones from diseases!

Hemp – Cannabis – Marijuana All the Same? NOT!

June 15, 2010 by Healthyhank

This is one of the most conflicting/confusing topics on earth!  The political correctness of this topic has limited “We the People” access to THE most important plant that exists on this planet.  This plant – hemp – the ‘male’ part is completely different than the ‘female’ – cannabis/marijuana.  Industrial hemp IS NOT a drug!  You would get sick smoking hemp trying to get high – there is virtually no THC (the ingredient that will get you high) in hemp.

Here are some facts about industrial hemp:

  1. Industrial uses of hemp in China date far back as 10,000 years
  2. There are over 25,000 known uses of hemp.
  3. Hemp fibers can create building materials superior to wood.
  4. Hemp is heat, mildew, pest, light and rot resistant.
  5. In 1941 Henry Ford built a car with a plastic made from hemp and wheat straw.
  6. Ford’s intention was to run his cars on hemp biofuel.
  7. The original Levi Strauss jeans were made from hemp.
  8. In 1850 the US Census reported 8,327 hemp plantations greater than 2,000 acres.
  9. Until 1937, 70 – 90 percent of all rope and twine was made from hemp.
  10. In 1942 the US Government strongly encouraged hemp farming to help with the war effort, going so far as to produce a film entitled “Hemp for Victory
  11. Hemp is cold hardy, able to withstand even NE winters.
  12. Hemp is pest resistant.
  13. Hemp is drought resistant.
  14. Hemp has a production rate of up to 10 tons per acre, every 4 months!
  15. 1 acre of usable hemp fiber is equal to the usable fiber of 4 acres of trees or 2 acres of cotton.
  16. Hemp paper can be recycled up to 7 times – wood pulp paper 4 times.
  17. Hemp fuels do not destroy the ozone layer or contribute to global warming.
  18. Hemp fuel burn clean; they do not cause acid rain.
  19. Hemp fuel is 10 times less toxic than salt and as biodegradable as sugar.
  20. Trees mature in 50 – 100 years; hemp matures in as little as 100 days.
  21. It is estimated that if 6% of the continental U.S. planted with hemp we could provide for ALL national energy needs.
  22. Hemp oil is the highest source of essential omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
  23. The raw hemp seed is the only seed on earth that we could live on.
  24. Hemp protein is easily assimilated with a high concentration of protein.

Why is growing hemp now illegal?  At one time hemp was used as legal money.  Foreigners were awarded citizenship if they grew cannabis; those who refused were fined.  Hawaii is the first state since the 1950’s to legally plant a hemp crop.

What happened to shut down hemp growing and the enactment of the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act?  During the years 1916 – 1937, William Randolph Hearst created a yellow journalism campaign to associate hemp with marijuana.  Even though smoking hemp, like most fibers, will just make you sick.  Hearst along with his friend Pierre DuPont and their political cronies, succeeded in getting hemp outlawed in America.  They actually robbed the world of the finest environmental cash crop.

Why did they do such a thing?  They did NOT want hemp to be used for paper, clothing, fuel, resins, medicines and many other uses.  We now use trees and synthetic petrochemicals.  Hearst owned huge forests and lumber mills, while DuPont made synthetic fuels and fibers (nylon, rayon, plastics) from petroleum.  Sound familiar? Greed!

The United States of America is an island of Denial in a sea of acceptance.  Industrial hemp is easily distinguished visually from Marijuana.  Industrial hemp cannot be abused as a drug!  We need the agriculture might of this plant!

Industrial Hemp as a cash crop would revitalize many states agriculture economies and make a significant contribution toward cleaning up the environmental mess in this earth!  Educate yourself about this topic.  Here is a closing thought: industrial hemp is not a drug; cannabis/marijuana is classified as a drug.  There are 14 States that have medical marijuana laws on the books; while Federal law (1937) makes it illegal to grow/possess.  There about 14 additional States that has medical marijuana laws being voted on in 2010.  In November 2010 California will vote in the general election for the legalization of marijuana for other than medical purposes.  Industrial hemp growing should NOT be a part of this movement since industrial hemp is NOT a drug!

BTW:  Just a side note!  The EPA states that there is NO medicinal value of cannabis; In 2003 the NIH (National Institute of Health) of the US Government was issued a US Patent #6630507 for Cannabinoids – see the patent for all of the therapeutics medical claims in the patent!
